Italian Jazz Singer and Storyteller, Germana Stella La Sorsa returns to Toulouse Lautrec to present her original compositions and arrangements from her debut album ‘Vapour’ (recently released on 33 Jazz Records) as well as some of the classic and the contemporary tunes that first inspired her to write her own music.
Expect a night of modern, open and sophisticated music, fully tuned in to the current wave of contemporary UK jazz.
Germana Stella La Sorsa started performing in Italy at an early age, working her way up through the Italian Jazz scene to ultimately perform at the side of some of the most influential European jazz musicians: Franco Cerri (Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie, Billie Holiday, Lee Konitz, Gerry Mulligan, Django Reinhardt and many more).
The move to London in 2017 inspired La Sorsa to compose new material and this creative impetus eventually led to the composition of much of the material on her debut album ‘Vapour’, released on the London based label 33 Jazz Records, and now available on all major platforms.
With ‘Vapour’, Germana has set out to break down both aesthetic and musical jazz conventions in a melting pot of styles. In its conception, the music is eclectic, crossing the boundaries of genre yet steeped in modern sounds with a nod to the avant-garde. Recorded with a Hammond Trio, Germana has channeled a wide range of influences into a contemporary jazz album that includes the music of Frank Zappa and Hermeto Pascoal – full of heavy grooves and rich in electrifying moments. Be transported by captivating melodies enhanced by Germana’s distinctive vocals.
