Alex Bryson is a London based pianist, performing regularly at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, and at other venues such as The 100 Club, The 606, The Bulls Head in Barnes, and The Verdict, in Brighton. He has worked with The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, Kansas Smitty’s House Band Seamus Blake, Eric Alexander, Grant Stewart, Alex Garnett, Steve Fishwick, Chris Cheek, Alison Neal, Leo Richardson, Sara Laura Dowling, and many others. He has performed at many festivals, including The London Jazz Festival, Cork Jazz Festival, Derry Jazz Festival, and Pershore Jazz Festival. Before pursuing a career in Jazz, Alex trained classically, receiving a bachelor’s degree in classical piano from Trinity College of Music in London in 2010, studying with Yonty Solomon, Philip Fowke. In 2013 he moved to New York City to pursue and a Masters degree in classical performance at Mannes College, The New School for Music in New York (Nina Svetlanova), and an advanced diploma at the Aaron Copeland of School of Music, Queen’s College (Mory Ritt). During classical studies in New York Alex also attended the classes of Barry Harris, and received lessons with Jeb Patton, Michael Weiss, Antonio Hart and Dennis Mackrell. His first work as a jazz musician was in the Marie-Claire Giraud Quintet, alongside Dwayne Clemons, Murray Wall and Luke Decker. Since then he has appeared at Arturo’s, The Metropolitan Room, Cleopatra’s Needle, The Cotton Club, The Flatiron Room and at Blues Alley, in Washington DC.
