TYPE OF EVENT : Guildhall School of Music, Jazz, Dinner Jazz

The UK is home to some of the world's finest music academies, several of them are in London and one in particular, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, is virtually on Toulouse Lautrec's doorstep. We've decided to offer GSMD postgraduates a residency they can call their own, to give our audience and us an opportunity to get to know these exceptional up and coming young players. We'll be seeing a lot of them in the future, but why wait?
Come down any Monday night and enjoy a lot of them right now.

This week Guildhall in Focus presents

Barnaby Wynter (Vocals) & David Swan (Piano)

Hailing from the Deep South (AKA West Sussex), Barnaby grew up in a strict tradition of funky robes and choral jams while a chorister at Chichester Cathedral, coming to jazz as a trumpeter in his early teens through his school big band. It wasn’t until his time at Oxford University that he moved towards vocal jazz after hearing a vocalise of Lee Morgan’s solo on ‘Moanin’ by Anita Wardell.

After a brief stint in radio, Barnaby moved to London and, though missing the choral jams, is much enjoying the jazz jams here in London. He’s currently working as composer/singer for Bambï, an ambient-pop songwriting platform, as well as working on exciting projects with London Vocal Project and Rhythms of the City.

Barnaby is in his first year of postgraduate studies at Guildhall where he is kindly supported by Help Musicians UK as a Postgraduate Award Holder and is a Leverhulme Arts Scholar.

Please note:
Please support our Guildhall postgraduates and show your appreciation during their performances. The performing students are correct at the time of booking. Due to the importance of their diplomas there may be some last-minute changes to the advertised performance.
