"Mellow Jazz Voice, performing the likes of Chet Baker with songs
from the Great American Songbook"

Karl Charity and his compact band are revealing the undiscovered gems from Tin Pan Alley. Karl takes a look, not at the Great American Songbook – those glittering chrome-plated standards beloved by millions and covered by artists from the Pussycat Dolls to dare I mention the Pink Sinatra, but at the Obscure Great American Songbook. And what a delightful set of songs to rediscover, or better still, discover for the very first time.

Trumpeter and vocalist Karl Charity, began his music career performing in musicals across the West End, Karl Charity has since supported a number of leading Jazz events including Roux at Parliament Square, Stompin On the Quomps and a sell-out performance at the Colour House Theatre.

Alumnus of the Royal College of Music, Karl has been playing the trumpet for over twenty years and has now taken to singing. A fresh, new voice, Karl performs some much-loved songs of jazz greats, from the dulcet tones of Chet Baker to the funky jazz sounds of Cole Porter.

By Em Barrett & Ryan Alexander

with Musical Director James Hall
& hosts Leo Elso & Tice Oakfield

After graduating with a degree in Writing, Directing and Performance from The University of York, Em was lucky enough to gain The Andrew Lloyd Webber Scholarship to study at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Whilst in training, Em was named The Young Welsh Musical Theatre Performer of the Year and played such roles as Mother Dearest in Betty Blue Eyes and Ensemble in One More Look, a brand new review directed by Kirk Jameson and musically directed by Nick Barstow. Upon graduation, Em took part in a workshop of a new musical, Twilight Robbery by Spalding&McNeice and an incredible workshop with Jim Arnold at The Growing Studio. Em hopes you enjoy the cabaret as much as they have both enjoyed rehearsing it!

Ryan is originally from Newfoundland,Canada, and is a graduate of the Masters in Musical Theatre Performance Program at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. An avid musician and performer, Ryan has performed numerous roles both in the U.K and at home in Canada. Some of these titles include Jamie Wellerstein in The Last Five Years, Link Larkin in Hairspray and Tarzan in Disney’s Tarzan the Musical. While studying his undergraduate degree in Opera, Ryan also accrued roles in productions of The Merry Wives of Windsor, Billy Elliott, and The Nobleman’s Wedding. Not only a performer, Ryan spends his days teaching music at The Winston Churchill School in Woking and loves being able to spread his passion for music whenever he can.
