Titan of Swing meets Straight Ahead Jazz
with special guest Osian Roberts

Bowing to the titans of swing - Sinatra, Bennett, Ellington, Joe Williams, and the more contemporary influences of Al Jarreau and Gregory Porter, Chuck Wansley blends creamy vocals with lush phrasing, a percussive scat, not a little charm and a bit of storytelling. Listeners will reap an extra bonus with special guest Welsh-born tenor saxophonist Osian Roberts joining Chuck for this night of wonderful live jazz.

Born in Queens, NYC and raised in a jazz loving family, Chuck recognized his passion for entertaining and music at an early age. He began his professional life with the international youth group Up With People traveling the globe for 4 years, entertaining world leaders and massive crowds on great stages such as the Royal Albert Hall, La Scala and Carnegie Hall. As drummer & vocalist with the band Match, Chuck opened for global acts like Earth, Wind & Fire, Chic and Tavares.

"Performing Eddie Jefferson/James Moody 1949 vocalese classic 'Moody's Mood', this multi-talented singer shows why he's in demand across the country.

Welsh-born Roberts, after moving to London to take up a place at the Royal Academy of music, rapidly gained recognition as one of the UKs finest straight-ahead tenor saxophonists performing regularly with such luminaries as Mike Carr, Peter King, Jim Mullen and Mark Nightingale. The quintet formed with RAM colleagues Steve and Matt Fishwick recorded three critically acclaimed albums the first of which featured jazz legends Cedar Walton and Peter Washington. A later incarnation of this group performed in 2016 at three of NYC’s top clubs, Smalls, Smoke and Dizzy's.

“Osian is one of Britain's finest saxophone players... His intimate style and warm tone combine with an original and contemporary melodic approach, which make his playing fresh and accessible”
