TYPE OF EVENT : Blues & Jazz

Ex Dexys jazz reprobate Pete has an unmistakable style bluesy with hints of Tom Waits and Dr John. Soulful gritty singing catchy originals to timeless classics and some unexpected covers.

Its been a long journey from being a founder member of 80’s pop band Dexys Midnight Runners and playing and writing two songs on their celebrated debut album Searching for the Young Soul Rebels to London's hot new Burlesque and Cabaret scene. His life took a variety of ups and downs, playing with all sorts from the Damned, an album with Carmel to the Jive Aces. From stadiums in South Africa with Rodriguez to Berlin squats with Serious Drinking . Pete Saunders has done a lot of playing and a lot of living and you can hear it in his singing.

Four years ago Pete created the Blues and Burlesque show at Volupte and formed a regular team with Vicious Delicious and Bouncy Hunter. They provided the core of a weekly variety Live music show which featured some of the cream of London’s cabaret scene that they took to Edinburgh in 2012 with spectacular success.

"Saunders’ songs are insightful, his piano playing doesn’t miss a note, his chat is erudite as well as being amusing, and he has a great singing voice to boot”the clothes line."
Adelaide Magazine

"Charming from start to finish, Saunders has an art to working the house and a fantastic ease with which he weaves together the show. An accomplished pianist and songwriter, Saunders breathes the blues and gives a resounding performance with his three piece band. His songs are light-hearted and funny, teasing his audience."
Broadway Baby

"Mr Saunders provided the jazz, with the kind of effortless improvisation that we all know isn’t remotely effortless. His almost edible, gravelly, rendition of Let The Good Times Roll was a joy."
Erotic Review

"Probably best known for his association with wedding reception favourites Dexy’s Midnight Runners, he has carved out an impressive career as a blues maestro"
