“Jo Harrop has a beautiful & excellent tone with great stage presence”

“Jo Harrop is a jazz singer who has a refined mellow sound, evoking the greats such as Anita O'Day & Billie Holliday and Nina Simone, she delivers a beautifully warm and swinging sound. "No worries here, this girl was born to sing jazz! Jo has all the emotional warmth and sensibility to melt the chilliest of hearts, and her laid back charm implies the right sort of tact she naturally has for her engaging take on soul jazz. Undeniable star quality”
Blues & Soul Magazine

“A singing sensation.... Her voice is amazing – think Islay whisky, dark porter or tannin-rich red wine –deep, the lissom lady is a class act. Vocalist Jo Harrop held the audience in the palm of her hand from the first note, a sign that we were listening to something special.”

GENRES: Quiet Storm Contemporary Soul

LAUGHING WITH THE RAINDROPS' songs are love letters to life. Drawn from the cream of London’s Jazz and Soul, this band plays an original repertoire of Quiet Storm Contemporary Soul. This concert launches the new album - Laughing With the Raindrops - and is followed by a party (till 2 am). The admission ticket includes a copy of the CD.

Virginie Lacour-Puiboube, the songwriter and first lady of London's Laughing With The Raindrops, writes songs which are epic and exotic. Her melodies are alluring and inviting like a late night beach bar framed in fairy lights and the heady scent of incense. Her lyrics tell tales of love and loss and life. Her words are often tongue in cheek, sometimes a little ironic, but ultimately it's her candour and her honesty that make her stories so relatable.

Virginie has skilfully woven bold brass, passionate summer beats and lavish harmonies to evoke a wanderlustful yet urban world, where friends and lovers sip Tequila Sunrise at sundown, on distant sun bleached beaches.

‘LAUGHING WITH THE RAINDROPS' latest album features numerous stand-out performances from London's Jazz and Soul elite and is full of great songs and sassy hooks. The record oozes feel, boasts exceptional production values, screams relaxation and is the perfect antidote to a long day. Laughing with the Raindrops is the soundtrack to good friends enjoying life. It's a sound you've not heard yet, but one you'll get first time... come on in friend... the water's just fine.
