"A powerhouse of Jazz, Soul & Blues"

Born and bred in Sweden, Katarina began her music career by singing old traditional folk songs with her accordion playing father. At the age of 12 she was taken under the wings of Stig Johansson, one of the key figures in the cultural life of her region, and soon became a familiar face on the professional circuit.

The life and culture of London have influenced Katarina to push her voice and develop her musical style. Her big powerhouse vocals have fitted comfortably into the gospel scene prompting Colin Vassell to recruit her as one of the select few in his “new revelation singers”, who make regular tours on the continent. Her jazz style is heavily influenced by the old greats like Nancy Wilson, Dinah Washington and Etta Jones, but also permeated by the sounds of soul giants like Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Marlena Shaw. Katarina has recorded a jazz album “nights at the dog house” with jlq and also delivered power and soul to the albums “promised land” and "Lowlife melodies" by one of Bob Harris favourite bands "The fake lazy supernovas".
